Sept. 12-16 and Sept. 19-23 - State Highway 89 at Emerald Bay Closing - a full roadway closure of State Highway 89 just south of the Cascade Creek Bridge to Bayview Campground and Inspiration Vista Point for two weeks during daytime hours for one portion of the project’s cold planing and hot mix asphalt paving work. During the closure traffic will be allowed to travel through the work zone between 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday afternoon through Friday morning. There will be no closure during the weekends from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. This work is part of the $13 million Emerald Bay water quality improvement project.
Sept. 20-25 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from the “Y” intersection to 13th Street and from Spring Creek Road to Cascade Road: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures in the four-lane section and one-way traffic control in the two-lane section around the clock from 8 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Friday for paving, curb, gutter and sidewalk work, and drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway will be resurfaced. Completion is expected by spring 2017.
